"Hear me now, believe me later - "

The Chicago Bears are going to the Superbowl!!! They just beat the New Orleans Saints 14-39 in Chicago! And how perfect that the Bears secure their Superbowl spot on the perfect day of Bears weather in Chicago? I'm so excited!!! It's still unknown who we will face in Miami (either the Colts or the Patriots) but both teams have really good passing offense per my dad. Which is a little scary considering our defense isn't very good at stopping passes, if today's game is any example. I'm still in shock at the fact that after 21 years, the Chicago Bears (my Chicago Bears) are going to the Superbowl!!!

During the last minutes of the game, my dad turned on the radio to 780 WBBM to listen to the Chicago announcers' reaction to the win, and the first thing that was said after the game was over was "Hear me now, believe me later." This just struck me as funny, especially since Chicago isn't known for the best teams (the Bulls aren't doing so well, and the Cubs are no better) but now that the Bears are going to the Superbowl, we finally have a winning team to root for!
GO BEARS!!!!

Keepin' Busy!

I haven't had much time for internet, blogging, or anything entertaining recently, so here's an update on the goings-on in my life over the past week or so:

-my dad was in the hospital earlier this week. He had kidney stones and stayed for 48 hours; he was in a lot of pain, but he's much better now! I visited him a few times before and after work, so that kept me pretty busy!

-finals were this week. I had 2 on Thursday and 3 (4 if you count Lit and Gram separately) on Friday; I'm so glad a new semester is starting because I couldn't take much more studying!!!

-work is continuing through the first few weeks of February, so I've been really focusing on that lately. I work about 3.5 hours Mon.-Thurs. and some Saturday mornings, like today, for example. It's getting pretty boring at work because we've been doing the same thing for a few weeks now, but soon we'll start inventory (again) so that will give my co-workers and I a little change of pace!

Well, that's about all that's going on for now! I have some news that I need to share concerning my summer, but I don't have time to get into all that now. Stay tuned!

The Arrow and the Song

I shot an arrow into the air,
It fell to earth, I knew not where;
For, so swiftly it flew, the sight
Could not follow it in its flight.

I breathed a song into the air,
It fell to earth, I knew not where;
For who has sight so keen and strong,
That it can follow the flight of song?

Long, long afterward , in an oak
I found the arrow, still unbroke;
And the song, from beginning to end,
I found again in the heart of a friend.

~Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
I've been studying Longfellow in Literature, and I just love this poem about the far-reaching consequences of our actions. Some of my other favorite Longfellow poems are The Song of Hiawatha (which I read during vacation at WaNiPa last summer) and Auf Wiedersehen.

Well, now that all the holidays are over and my Christmas break is rapidly coming to a close, life is getting back to normal. I'm still working for Kid's Korner (and will be for the next few weeks) so that's keeping me pretty busy. Well, as Tigger would say, T.T.F.N. - Ta-Ta For Now!

PS - I can't believe it's 2007!!! AAahhh!!! ;)

Happy Holidays!

Ok, Here are the promised holiday pictures! On Christmas Eve, we went to my aunt and uncle's house in Yorkville to celebrate Christmas with my dad's side of the family. It was us, my dad's sister, husband, and 6 kids, and my Grandpa and his friend Carol. Then, on Christmas Day, we celebrated in Rock Island with my mom's side at my Granny's church. I'm not sure who all was there, but my Granny, my mom's brother & family, my mom's sister & family, and a few other relatives and friends were all there.

New Year's Eve brought my aunt and uncle to celebrate the arrival of 2007! (unfortunately, the Bears lost horribly to the Packers that night, so it wasn't as happy of a new year!) On New Year's Day we had some of my mom's side of the family over to celebrate. Now that's a lot of celebrating for one week, but every celebration had all the essentials - great food, lots of family, a little resting time, and (of course) cousin football! All in all, it was a great holiday season!
